BCBOHA is dedicated to coordinating the efforts of Berkshire County's many local Boards of Health. The association began over 75 years ago and has provided vital networking for Board of Health members as well as Health Agents. Over the years, the Association has grown to organize and oversee a variety of programs.
As state and federal governments start to include Public Health workers in their cadre of first responders, an increasing amount of pressure has been put on Boards of Health to improve their education, take an active role in emergency planning, and liaise with police and fire departments. To this end, over the past few years BCBOHA has agreed to oversee several grants directed towards local Boards of Health in Berkshire County intended to increase their interoperability and preparedness in emergency situations.
